Brief History

The US Mint began producing the American Eagle coin in 1986 when they introduced the American Eagle Coin Program. The program aimed to solely produce gold and silver bullion coins for investment purposes. However, the Mint soon diversified its coin production to include platinum coins in 1997 and palladium coins in 2017. They also produce uncirculated and proof versions of the American Eagle coins for collectors. 

The American Eagle Bullion Coins is a great way for investors to invest in a small amount of physical gold, silver, palladium, and platinum. There are four available sizes for gold bullion coins: one ounce, one-half ounce, one-quarter ounce, and one-tenth ounce. Types of American Eagle Coins

  • American Gold Eagles -This is also the official gold bullion of the United States. It comes in four different sizes: one ounce, one-half ounce, one-quarter ounce, and one-tenth ounce.   • American Palladium Eagles – It is the official palladium bullion coin of the United States. Like the silver and platinum bullion coins, it only comes in one size—one ounce— and has a face value of $25.
